Armed robbery at Mt Albert sports bar, police standing guard

Four masked offenders armed with weapons including a firearm smashed their way into an Auckland sports bar last night, leaving a staff member unhurt but shaken.

A police investigation is under way following the aggravated robbery at the Mt Albert Sports Bar on New North Rd.

The offenders entered the building just before midnight and stole the contents of the cash register before leaving, a police spokesperson said.

“A staff member inside the premises was uninjured but understandably shaken by the incident. He has been provided with support by police.

“The offenders are still at large, and police are following positive lines of inquiry.”

Armed police were standing guard at the Mt Albert Sports Bar following the incident.
