Escapism Escape Room Experiences has a new horror themed experience. With every new experience Escapism offers something different, something designed to offer a new style of experience, gameplay design or using new gameplay mechanics. With The Gate, they have focused on an expanded gameplay format, approximately three times larger than their other experiences.
This room splits your group in two, encouraging real team work to help each team progress and hopefully escape in time. Participants have a 60 minute time limit to complete puzzles and navigate out of an unknown environment, which is set in an abandoned building.
In The Gate, the story is that your team has been abducted by a cult and you are being offered as a sacrifice. You awake blind folded and must attempt to escape. The room has lots of creepy sound effects, horror themed music and an environment that is made to keep you feeling on edge as you step and crawl to a new space, not knowing what you’ll find.
The Gate was built with a continued focus on excellence, which has garnered the company over 850 five star reviews. Escapism is currently the top rated escape room in Auckland on Google and Tripadvisor Traveller rankings. They were also 2025 Travellers’ Choice Award winners.
