One patient was taken to Auckland City Hospital in a serious condition, a spokesman said.
Roberts said one person was in custody and assisting police with their inquiries.
Valley View Rd was temporarily closed while officers examined the scene but has since reopened.
Part of the footpath remains closed while police continue their investigation.
There was no ongoing risk to the community, Roberts said.
