A homemade explosive device was discovered at a reserve in New Lynn this afternoon, prompting a response from police and the New Zealand Defence Force.
Police said a person discovered the small homemade explosive device in a reserve near their home on Sea Brook Ave shorty after 2pm.
“No road closures or cordons are in place and NZDF staff have been called in to safely dispose of the device,” police said.
A visible police presence would remain in the area while the matter was being resolved and the public are advised to avoid the area during this time.
